Registered Race & Grace Mondays participants also receive informative prayer prompts breaking each monthly theme below into easy to pray specifics that give each Monday its own unique focus.
MONTH ONE / ONE RACE
We're all part of the human race, made in God's image. Kinfolk with a shared origin. Specifically designed to evolve into extraordinary diversity to reveal more of God's heart, ways & intentions through a mosaic of ethnicities, cultures & perspectives.
Praying a nation deeper into these ideals.
MONTH TWO / LEGACY IMPACT
The pursuit of status, riches or comforts without regard for human dignity & value has often led to those with power doing terrible things to those with lesser power. Some collective actions, like the slave trade, have long lasting consequences.
Praying a nation into healthy reckoning.
MONTH THREE / EQUALITY & EQUITY
Most societal systems & structures to varying degrees tend to reject equality in how we're called to love & act in fairness toward one another - & instead assigns value & bestows favoritism based on influence, power, status, & even race. Equity tailors how we pursue equality for the making of a just society.
Praying a nation into racial equality.
MONTH FOUR / SHELTER
Historically rooted prejudices fostered government sanctioned segregation, black township destruction, housing & lending discrimination, harmful zoning practices & unequal resource distribution in neighborhood development still in effect today.
Praying a nation into second
command oriented housing practices.
MONTH FIVE / EDUCATION
Inequality in access to quality education, in resources, in treatment of students, in the impact of policies redacting black history, penalizing aspects of teaching about the minority experience, & the need for more racially diverse resources in the learning experience from 1st grade to higher education.
Praying a nation into educational equality.
MONTH SIX / CRIMINAL JUSTICE
Historic to current racial disparities in laws, policies, fines, sentencing (and more) which disproportionately impact the lives of people of color and result in a vast overrepresentation of blacks in the criminal justice and prison system.
Praying a nation into justice reformation.
MONTH SEVEN / POLICING
Over-policing of minorities, disproportionate use of force, police accountability & immunity issues, & outright expressions of racism from law enforcement dominate the narrative & need for continued reforms.
Praying for transformation in law enforcement.
MONTH EIGHT / HEALTHCARE
Historic racist medical practices, bias in the medical field, & discriminatory policies allocating resources in ways that disempower & devalue minorities, result in inequitable access to quality care.
Praying a nation into healthcare justice.
MONTH NINE / REPRESENTATION
Strong & positive representation of people of color in all stratums of society decreases discrimination & disenfranchisement. It helps validate & integrate the perspectives of diverse cultures, raises aspirations, promotes equality, improves industries, & impacts the racial wage gap.
Praying a nation into the work of
integration for the greater good.
MONTH TEN / RACIAL TRAUMA
The impact of past & present racism, & even things like micro-aggressions can be uniquely hard on blacks; body & soul. Practices that address generational trauma & black wellbeing, & spaces for racial dialogue that cultivate, understanding, solidarity, & conciliation can be incredibly healing.
Praying a nation toward practices
that heal rather than harm.
MONTH ELEVEN / THE CHURCH
The Church's complicity in racism & its journey to Christlikeness in how it addresses discrimination within itself, & how it responds to God's call to embody & do the work of racial justice & reconciliation within society.
Praying for the Church to be the Church.
MONTH TWELVE / RECONCILIATION
Addressing issues of racism in ways that are spiritually rooted, socially responsible, bridge-building, & leading to greater solidarity & society-wide transformation.
Praying a nation onto roads
that lead to racial healing.
